Postgraduate
For postgraduate education, the options I want are molecular biotechnology (here we go again) or biochemistry. Really, I think the option of a master in biochemistry is more possible than a doctorate in molecular biotechnology, I'm thinking is just a stupid obsession for now, and probably in the future, when I finish studying my current career, I will finally leave that idea, or that's what I hope.
Talking about the master, which is the most likely option, I could do it in the Faculty of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences, of University of Chile. The lines of investigation that more catch my attention are biochemistry of proteins and biotechnology, or toxicological biochemistry and molecular diagnostic. Although there are also environmental biochemistry, and clinical biochemistry. If I could, I would see the possibility of working while doing the master, but that can be hard, so it's more probably that I will have to work and get savings, and then do the master, more calmly and better.
It can change in the future, but now I would prefer biochemistry of proteins and biotechnology. Enzymes, toxins and peptides are investigated here, for design new medicines, or give them other uses such as industrial, environmental, generally biotechnological. I find it very interesting, because recently I saw a story where some scientists managed to obtain an antibiotic from a natural polymer, lacking toxic effects, and I think this is really important, because it give a new approach. It had problems of solubility, but was compensated, and with that they got something better than they had already, with properties just as potent as a modern antibiotics. I know that is necessary continue studying after finish the career, but I just loved this, and I'm very excited to continue studying, both now and in the future.
